Co op option could revive village grocery store
University Park leaders consider a grocery co op to replace Save More Foods after its May opening, closing, and removal. Elbert Shaw outlines shares for residents to own the store, aiming to hold prices, improve service, and remove profit motives while Hyde Park and South Suburban Co ops serve as models. Trustee Palmer and President Young weigh feasibility and prior studies, with disposal rules for leftover goods and a suggestion to donate expired food to the needy.
