Hospitals eye move to southwestern facility

State directs traffic fine money to trauma centers

Illinois will distribute 157,284 in grants from traffic fines to seven trauma centers in the south suburbs. Funds go to Christ Hospital Oak Lawn Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center Palos Community Hospital Silver Cross Hospital South Suburban Hospital St James Hospital Medical Center and St Josephs Hospital Joliet based on trauma patient volume and region. A total of 1.4 million in grants will go to Level 1 or 2 trauma centers statewide while Medicaid trauma patient figures help determine allocations.
