Immunization rule would spare GSU and commuter schools
The General Assembly narrowly approved a bill to exempt Governors State University and other commuter schools Chicago State Northeastern Illinois from the state immunization mandate. Supporters said 1,200 students could be turned away without the exemption while opponents urged maintaining safety standards. The measure now goes to Gov. Edgar for final action.
