Edgar says budget accord includes tax relief and raises
Governor Jim Edgar and four legislative leaders reached a budget deal for fiscal 1999 starting July 1. The plan doubles the personal exemption to 2000, expands the circuit breaker relief, implements a single-factor tax formula for multi state corporations, provides raises for human service providers, funds pensions for teachers, and aims for a year end balance near 700 million dollars. Edgar praises the orderly process and notes he made spending cuts totaling 170 to 180 million.
