Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival and related community events
Area residents may attend the 10th Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival on July 6 at Rosemont Horizon with about 2000 dancers from 50 groups across the U S Canada South America and Europe. A 10:45 a m bus from Chicago Heights will precede a 1 p m festival start, with contact via 799-2815 for details. The Relay for Life fundraiser at Central High School Olympia Fields runs 9 a m to 9 p m featuring nearly 200 volunteers. Events include luminaries for cancer survivors and victims, with advance or on site donations welcome and organizations like Ingalls Health System Star Newspapers and Daley's Ambulance Service co sponsoring. Also noted are Rich East High School student artwork displays at Park Forest Village Hall through May, Italian American Veterans post meetings, tax relief eligibility efforts, Hebrew and Yiddish song programs at Congregation Am Echad, a school panel on local education in Olympia Fields, pancake breakfasts by Glenwood Firefighters Association, a Golden Ager breakfast in Ford Heights, and a radio controlled aircraft event in Flossmoor Road forest preserve.
