Village abates tax levies for seven bond payments

Richton Park to Open Public Pool With New Committee
Pool trustees approved opening the pool and forming a permanent committee. Two trustees were missing at the vote. Last August the village took possession after George Aquilla no longer wanted to run the Lakewood subdivision facility. The Lakewood Aqua Club had depended on the village due to declining enrollment and financial pressures. An introductory 10 percent rate will be offered to the first 100 applicants before May 20. This year will feature private rentals for groups. A two-day volunteer cleanup is planned on May 13 and May 20, with painting, weed removal, table repairs, and other tasks. Perry Kuehr, 45, once Balmoral Park Racetrack controller, is under investigation for allegedly embezzling about 2 million dollars over the last five to six years of his 11 year tenure. He was fired in September. no charges filed. Officials say an exhaustive audit found missing purses funds replaced, and portions of vintage military equipment were sold as restitution.
