Wennlund Bill Seeks Statewide Gun Control Preemption
Illinois lawmakers push a blanket preemption that would strip most local gun control authority from municipalities including Chicago suburbs such as Blue Island and Oak Lawn. Proponents say uniform statewide policy prevents conflicting local ordinances, while opponents warn of reduced local control, potential increases in prosecutions, and trouble for gun regulation in areas with dense roads and housing.
