Final Rosary Sealed as Chicago Heights Church Is Demolished
On February 17 the wrecking ball began demolishing St. Rocco Catholic Church in Chicago Heights after months of efforts by former parishioners to save the 89 year old building. A center image shows the stripped interior contrasted with a 1952 First Communion service. Parishioner Filomane Ranieri, 93, leaves the church for the last time, while 12 year old Adam Haynes photographs a shrine built outside by Bill Bramanti and Frank Napoli.
