Scully pushes education funding amendment in Illinois House
Rep. George Scully leads a bid to require at least 50 percent state funding for elementary and secondary education. Opponents including Republicans and the Illinois Education Association warn it could reduce total school funding and rely on state revenue shifts. The measure, cosponsored by Reps. Crotty and McGuire, faces a tough path to the November ballot with a 71 votes needed in the House and 36 in the Senate.
