In Cook County, judicial hopefuls face campaigning limits and long odds. Candidates must be Illinois lawyers, with experience and endorsements guiding voters in subdistrict races from District 15A to 3A. Door knocking and sign campaigns mix with low voter attention and high personal storytelling.
In District 3A and 15A, multiple candidates face bar association scrutiny. The Chicago Bar Association qualified Bradley and Byrne in 3A and Panici Burns McGinnis and Mallo in 15A, while others were not recommended or listed as not qualified. The Chicago Council of Lawyers and Cook County Bar Association also evaluated contenders, emphasizing legal experience and integrity.
Corrine Wood and other state and Will County figures spoke to about 50 at an Eastern Will County Republican Women’s breakfast. Wood praised grassroots outreach, and aligned with George Ryan on most issues while supporting pro choice views on abortion. Other speakers included Loleta Didrickson and Peter Fitzgerald discussing tax policy and platform firmness, with Rep. Jerry Weller and candidate Chris Lawson outlining budget and governance priorities.
