Village imposes new fire and paramedic fees in Park Forest

The Park Forest village board approved a resolution to charge nonresidents up to 200 for fire calls to fund village needs avoiding a tax increase. Fire and paramedic fees for nonresidents were approved with other ordinances advancing. Trustee Duffy criticized charges for services benefiting residents. The measure notes 46 percent of 13 car fires in 1983 involved nonresident vehicles. A separate ordinance raises paramedic fees for nonresidents from 50 to 75 per call. First readings set fees for vehicle stickers and reoccupancy inspections. A public hearing on a White Hen Pantry center is tentatively set for July 3, with concerns about July 4 celebrations.
