More than 300 residents heard Erie Development president Harold Back unveil plans to revamp The Centre shopping complex in Park Forest as the heart of a 46 acre downtown district. Airport jobs would benefit South Suburbs

Illinois Transportation Secretary Kirk Brown told leaders that a proposed Peotone regional airport could create almost 35,000 permanent jobs, with Will County receiving the largest share at 13,225. Chicago would gain 7,298, South Cook County 3,204, and other areas including DuPage, North Cook, and West Cook would benefit. Construction jobs totaling 46,348 are projected from 1994 to 2001, with openings by 2001.
