Park Forest police report a 48 year old Matteson woman had her van window smashed and purse stolen at a Western Avenue and Sauk Trail intersection. The thief approached during a red light, broke the right front window, and fled with the wallet containing $50 and $15 in cash.
Police said three male youths, 16 or 17, robbed Video Events at 3720 Sauk Trail last Sunday, taking about $125 at gunpoint. No one injured. suspects fled through the back. Authorities seek tips as investigation continues.
Matteson police say a car parked at 211th and Olympian Way was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday. Items taken include a volleyball, gym shoes, sunglasses, five dollars in cash, seven dollars in quarters, and car keys. Total loss about 220 dollars. Riverdale police found the victim’s veils at 138th and Halsted during the report. Catron was taken into custody and driven to the Dalton Police Department. Felony armed robbery complaints were approved.
Police report an 8 year old boy in Lansing was playing in an alley on Wildwood at 11 30 a m when a brown and white car stopped. A man dressed like a television clown exited and sprayed paint on the child’s bicycle. No permanent damage was found.
A 19 year old Lynwood man was injured and robbed of his car a gold necklace and money by three men in the 500 block of Sibley Boulevard Dalton police said Januarius Catron 20 of 8542 S Bennett Ave Chicago was charged with armed robbery in connection with the attack The victim said he was kneeling by his car at about 10 am when two men ran up He was struck in the face with a chain held at gunpoint and ordered to surrender his property He handed over 250 in cash and the car keys
Donald Johnson, 33, of 2140 Vermont, was sentenced to 90 years after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual assault. Johnson pulled a knife on a female bartender, forced her into his limousine, and attacked her in May 1990. He previously had Class X felony convictions for deviant sexual assault in 1978 and 1984.
Palos Park police probe a fatal crash at 123rd Street and LaGrange Road on June 18. At 4:28 p.m. a southbound car turning east collided with motorcycles. John Cessnun, 40, of Cicero, was pronounced dead at Chris Hospital in Oak Lawn.
