Kosovo refugees seek jobs as English lessons begin in Burbank
In Burbank a Kosovo Gashi family learns English five nights weekly while awaiting welfare and job leads. Teacher Darrel Larkin guides basic words and times, aided by caseworker Mia Gashi. Hosts donate space, with family members aiming to escape welfare and regain independence. The Sokolis, educated and eager to study, adjust to life in Worth while hoping for dual U.S. citizenship and possible moves to Macedonia for work.
