Will County contemplates costs of new Joliet race track
Will County officials push for cost estimates from the sheriff and engineer as a 75,000 seat Motorsports Alliance track near Manhattan Township heightens road traffic and necessitates more police presence in unincorporated areas. Joliet and Lockport already approved related zoning and tax breaks would freeze property tax at predevelopment levels for 10 years. The project, linked with Route 66 Raceway, aims to draw major racing events and boost local economies, while the county seeks assurances taxpayers won't cover expanded services.
