The Graduation Requirements Committee proposes raising graduation credits for Rich South to 26, with Rich East and Rich Central at 22. Rich South would add one science, one social studies, three vocational or elective credits, and three in other areas. Classes of 2004 would face the first increase, while current sophomores and juniors at the other campuses would be affected later or not at all.
Matteson plans redevelopment at the northeast corner of Cicero Avenue and Lincoln Highway where a former Amoco station is being cleared for a convenience store gas station and car wash. A 4800 square foot building and a smaller car wash are planned. Builders Square nearby remains vacant as village marketing efforts span to attract developers through the Chicago Southland Development program.
About 900 teachers from five area districts gathered last week at Governors State University Center for Performing Arts for a Multi-District Inservice. Administrators and teachers heard four speakers on bridging gaps between teaching and the diverse world, stressing the importance of their work.
