Police listed various local incidents including battery and trespass charges against Mary Griffin and Sharon Williams, a retail theft by Sandra Sutton, a domestic battery case involving Tawana Morgan, and a car hijacking attempt near West 175th Street. Also noted were vehicle and property thefts, a broken window report, and a fleeing eluding charge linked to Kedzie Avenue.
Police report late December to early January charges and incidents including obstruction of a peace officer cannabis possession and illegal open alcohol transportation near Sandra Drive at 9:30 p.m. December 31. a .38 caliber revolver fired near Hemlock at midnight January 1. a firearm without FOID charge following five shots. Marcus Turner charged with unlawful weapon use and possession at 12:01 a.m. January 1 with two guns found in his home. A 19-year-old Chicago youth charged with minor alcohol possession and related infractions at 5:23 p.m. January 1. Also reported are three picnic tables stolen from St. Mary’s Church and a vehicle taken from Zee One Honda during late December into January.
Two Chicago women reported purse thefts from a shared locker at the Homewood Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club on Tuesday between 3 45 and 5 p m. A car stolen Monday from the 900 block of Elder Road was found burned out in Ford Heights the next day, Cook County Sheriff's Police said.
Crete Tools were reported stolen Monday from a home in the 1300 block of Richton Road. Five generators worth a total of 8,000 dollars were stolen from a business in the 1000 block of Holland Drive between October and January. Police said some generators were stored outside the business while others were located inside. Mark Ferguson, 37, 7342 S. Paulina, Chicago, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and no firearm owner's identification card after allegedly firing six shots from a Colt Detective Spe.
A Chicago Heights Housing Authority home on the 300 block of East 16th Street was burglarized Monday around 4 p.m. Entry items included a cellular phone, a pager, and a pair of eye lasses. Roosevelt Wells, 29, of 334 Concord Drive, was charged with possession of 2.5 grams of cannabis in a separate incident.
Trina Jackson, 94, of Country Club Hills was charged with assault and resisting a police officer after she allegedly threatened to burn down a house on Thomas Drive. Police said officers attempted arrest after the threat and the ensuing struggle began.
The bankruptcy court dismissed the case against South Suburban Aviation, former Frankfort Airport owners. Denise and Randy Strait of Temp Realty Co. will take over, aiming to keep the field open for tenants while upgrades may be required for full public operation under state rules.
