Elderly Cal City couple murdered home intruder in standoff
Calumet City police say an elderly couple were killed New Year's Eve when an intruder forced entry and was shot by the homeowners. Police charged three suspects in the incident, including the couple’s son, with two counts of murder. In a separate case in Harvey, an elderly couple fatally shot a burglar who had repeatedly bothered them, with no charges filed against the homeowners. The Gorzelanny family name appears in the Calumet City shooting case. Measures include mourning, investigations, and updating residents on the outcomes of the legal actions.
