Trustee Contested Seat Casts Shadow on Village Board

Trustee Imoukhuede, Stricker’s pick for Murphy’s seat, was appointed by a one vote margin in a heated December meeting. Opposition members Freudenheim and Perry argued the move was politically motivated. The board sent a proposal to raise meter test deposits from 3 to 60 back to the Public Works Committee. Several members called the increase outrageous given last year’s six inspection requests. The board plans 1993-94 budget work with a July 30 deadline and scheduled six workshops from March to April. Tax abatements were approved for 800000 police station and 600000 park bonds, with Cook County notified to exclude levies from residents’ tax bills.
