District 162 Approves Opening of Choice School

The Matteson Elementary School District 162 Board approves a new choice school for K through 5 at Illinois School for 2000 2001. It uses a three tiered lottery based application, extended 10 week teaching terms, multi age groupings, video conferencing, distance learning, daily foreign language, and hands on science and math. A program evaluation committee will report annually on effectiveness and improvements. Dr Joyce Carmine notes CSAC efforts and opportunity to improve district education.
