Legion to aid injured ex-commander in Hobart fundraiser
The American Legion Hazel Crest Post 398 hosts an 8 p.m. fundraiser for Albert Fidanza, 68, a former commander who suffered severe, unexplained injuries in Hobart last Nov. 11. Fidanza remains non ambulatory, with memory gaps, and Hobart police seek leads on how the injuries occurred in his car outside a Wal-Mart.

A $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the James Simmons slaying remains unclaimed after more than a year. Police describe the suspect as a 17 to 25 year old African American male, around 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 11, wearing a blue jacket, with a two door bluish-green Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz seen fleeing the scene.
