Boy from Minsk Receives Life Saving Heart Surgery
Thirteen year old Yaroslav Bezlepkin of Minsk was flown to Christ Hospital Oak Lawn for removal of a heart growth after doctors found a hole between his heart chambers and a narrowed blood passage. Surgeon Dr Michel Mbawi and Dr Rene Arcilla led a two hour operation to repair the defect, aided by iodine imaging not available in Minsk. The boy's family, aided by a foundation, hopes for full recovery as he stays in the Pediatric ICU under care.
