Built-out Park Forest sees housing mini boom
Park Forest experiences a housing mini boom on cleared land near a shuttered shopping center and former school sites. Village officials push for energy efficient, varied housing while balancing plans for a new Main Street downtown and potential senior housing. Prominent sites include the former Centre mall area, Lakewood Elementary site now India Community Center, and near Governors State University with homes overlooking the golf course.
