Matteson adopts fair housing policy and enforcement plan
The 1979 board adopted a revised housing ordinance with the community relations commission as watchdog and Mses. Gromala and the village board moved to enforce and publicize racial diversity. The effort includes marketing plans, sign moratoriums, testing programs, and outreach to Realtors to promote equitable housing and curb steering.

Budget officials noted a roof project awarded to Esko and Young Inc. of Chicago at 67500 dollars, 18000 below the architect's estimate and well under rival bids. The district also plans Cun ningham Landscaping for landscape work at Marya Yates, a 4700 dollar donation to Rich South High School Boosters for football field lighting, and salary advances for five teachers. The historical society office is closed for August and will reopen September 4 with hours 1 to 4 pm. The general membership meeting is at 8 pm September 6 at 3 School avenue. A student study club plans flora then birds, meeting at Sieden Prairie school with transportation by the district bus.

Voucher program for unemployed draws outside Park Forest
The Park Forest Health Department reports rapid use of a federally funded voucher program begun June 1 to insure medical visits for the unemployed and uninsured. In five weeks over 100 vouchers were issued, 82 in July, with two thirds of users outside Park Forest, including Joliet and Chicago. The program covers examinations with local physicians and a dentist, focusing on preventive care. some patients require noncovered tests or hospitalization.
