Poshard Opposes Peotone Site for 3rd Airport
Illinois gubernatorial candidate Glenn Poshard and Gary Indiana Mayor Scott King spoke at the First Presbyterian Church of Peotone opposing a third regional airport at Peotone. King advocated expanding Gary’s airport as a cheaper, smarter option and redeveloping land adjacent to Gary’s current airport. King urged Peotone residents to let their town define itself while noting Gary’s role in Chicago’s metro area. Poshard pressed for regional government agreement before any third airport proceeds, and cited polluting industrial land renewal and school funding as campaign themes.
