New Golden Dollar aims to move into general use
The U S Mint expects the Sacagawea dollar to become a circulating workhorse despite initial novelty. Production in the first month reached 200 million coins, with daily output soon at 5 million and a yearly shipment projected at 1 billion. Public awareness is low in San Diego yet, as banks and stores report few sightings. A six month $40 million ad push will promote its use.
