Moonshiners Guilty in Hall Murder Case in Lynchburg
In a U S District Court ruling final dispositions were handed down for three moonshiners charged with murdering Ann Hall in Patrick County last March. Pitch Rakes George Booth and George Martin pleaded guilty to murder participation with sentences six years and one year respectively. Grover Beamer was convicted of murder in the second degree and sentenced to seven years while William E Rakes drew fifteen years. A nephew of Ann Hall was believed to have exposed illicit distilling and the defendants allegedly killed him with gunfire at Hall's home. The group was captured six weeks after the crime.

Veteran Burns To Death In Virginia Co Store
