The Rev George T. Purves D D LL D pastor of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian church and moderator of the New York presbytery died suddenly at his residence 30 West Fifty-eighth Street after a brief illness. He had been ill for a day or two. doctors were summoned and he suffered a sudden heart failure entering into his immediate death. He came to Fifth Avenue from Princeton in 1900 after nine years at Princeton University and earlier served as pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Pittsburg. He was in his fortieth ninth year and leaves a widow and seven children.
