Regulars and volunteers recount hospital care in Cuba and Montauk. At a Friday meeting the local lodge of Elks approved the Massillon Street Fair Association proposal to run the German village. A committee of F. A. Vogt O. BE. Young F. W. Preyer B. R. Weirich and John Keller was named to finish arrangements and assign lodge members to duty each day during the fair.
The Midway at Tremont and East streets closes as decorations continue for next week's opening. A Hindoo jugglers act is secured, and a wall is built with under ground electrical conduits. Gambling is banned on the grounds and on all Midway sites. Special Eight watchman Sherman Cochran is appointed.
Friday afternoon chaos disrupted telephones and fire alarms after a trolley wire sagged across overhead lines near Cherry and Mill streets. Lineman Merrell was burned when his hand touched a live wire but returned to work the next day. An unrelated ad promotes Allen's Foot Ease for tired feet and discomfort with price and trial offer.
State hospital trustees set September 29 as the opening day with Governor Bushnell expected to attend. A reception hosted by the Massillon Club will honor the governor and other distinguished guests. President Samuel J. McMahon of Cambridge will deliver a historical address and welcome speech will be given by a Massillon board member.
Farmers display to feature at next week's street fair with space provided by the association and prizes from Monroe nurseries offered by H E Sinnock. Prizes include select apple, pear, peach, plum, quince trees, and grape stocks for top displays. flowers judged separately for a lady exhibitor.
Major Hysell, chief surgeon of the Second division of the First army corps, writes to the surgeon general that during his stay at Camp Thomas there was no difficulty obtaining medical and hospital supplies if proper effort was made.
Paris reports that the cabinet will submit Dreyfus papers to a commission chosen by the justice minister Suerlinden. Tillage and Suerlinden left the council before adjournment, signaling dissent and possible resignation.
General Joseph Wheeler faces no opposition in Alabama primaries. The contest is seen as effectively ruling in Wheeler regardless of turnout, with expectations of a tremendous vote as the primaries function as the election.
Madrid dispatch lists Montero Rios Cerero Abarzuza Vellaralla and Garnica as peace commissioners. They will depart for Paris on September 25. Schofield declines to join the inquiry committee on war conduct.

Rev John Hale of New York dies today in Bangor County Down Ireland after a long illness. The Canton briefing notes Stark county treasury shows a cash balance of 55,777.39 with overdrafts of 19,378.54. County funds are overdrawn by 11,407.90 in the general fund with 6,440.27 in the bridge fund and 1,530.87 in the Dow fund. The September term of common pleas court opens Monday with 25 cases assigned to Judge McCarty including McCaughey v Clay and others. Six divorce actions listed. Boron seeks divorce from Anna for cruelty and custody of their child. Hannah Schaumecker sues Thomas H Fenton and Susan Nist for 312 on a note. John Wolf of Canton dies at county infirmary. stabbed years ago but never recovered. wills probated for Moushey and Balls. administrators named for Yorder and Schneider estates. Marriage license issued to Schutz and Fetzer. William Wiseman plans a 20 by 40 frame residence on Eden street, cost 1250, due by November 15. Boys’ fare Alconn note appears truncated.
