Death of Cornelius Vanderbilt Ends Rivalry of Lines
New York Sept 13 Cornelius Vanderbilt head of the Vanderbilt family died at his residence from a stroke of paralysis. He was 46. His wife and two children Gladys and Reginald were at his bedside. No physician was in attendance before death. Dr Delafield arrived after the death. Funeral will be at St Bartholomew's Church with Bishop Potter officiating. Vanderbilt’s career began on Staten Island and rose to head of the Vanderbilt railroad system and New York Central. He suffered a paralytic stroke in 1896 ending active work.
