McKinley thanks Massillon and praises youth, urging hope and equal citizenship in the republic.

A large audience packed the opera house as Canton’s James A. Rice spoke at a Democratic and Populist gathering. Mrs. Sherwood draped a Bryan picture with a flag, and Rice urged opposition to gold standard aims, defending silver and criticizing McKinley and Hanna. He attacked party leaders, cited expenses, and defended his stance on currency policy amid heated remarks and applause.

Philo Bruce of Stark County died at his Ravenna home. Born in 1844 he earned a $72 a month pension for wounds at Knoxville where a shell shattered his left arm leg calf and side. He was nursed by a sister and later served as county recorder and hunter. Also noted: Harvey Weiss injured after a fall from a second story window. Samuel Hart died from a buggy accident down a 50 foot embankment. Henry Tibbe, 77, of Washington Mo, inventor of the Missouri Meerschmann corn cob pipe. A 12 year old Alonzo Hart Jr of the Kansas Reform School shown as incorrigible, stealing from churches and homes.

Supporters urge public devotion to country and urge participation to ensure plentiful nickels on the chosen day. Salem Oct 24 owing to the death of W K Miller of Canton the Republican elector candidate in the eighteenth district is removed and his son Charles K Miller is substituted for him W K Miller was related to Major McKinley by marriage and wished to vote for him.
