Riot at Michigan state prison leaves staff injured
In Jackson Michigan November 27 a violent riot at the state prison injured Deputy Warden Northrup who was struck on the head and thought fatally hurt. Superintendent Coffee of the shirt factory was beaten senseless and Foreman Miller slugged. About 100 convicts worked in the shirt factory. eight were involved. The trouble began after Miller threatened to report Dick Huntley for poor work and Huntley attacked Miller with a club. Armed keepers restored order and prisoners were locked in their cells.
