The Wheeling & Lake Erie Company and its workers reach a settlement ending a wage dispute. Engineers firemen conductors and trainmen gain about 10 percent pay rise with mileage based rates prior to December 1. Working hours reduced and overtime pay promised. A seventy five mile ridebook will be shared between enginemen and firemen. Company officials praised for fairness and good relations.

Perry Township Sunday School Convention Sets New Officers

The Perry Township Sunday School Association held its annual convention in the Baptist church. The program began with the president’s address and secretary’s report followed by Rev. H. A. Dowling’s talk on The Dynamics of Sunday School Work. Marion Lawrance spoke on various topics, Rev. J. C. Ford led the song service, and the nominating committee’s report was adopted. officers for the year are T. H. Focke president, Lee Graybill vice president, L. L. Nave secretary and treasurer.

Dr C B Rogers assistant physician at the Massillon state hospital resigns his post effective December 15 to practice medicine in Warren. His wife Mrs Rogers requires his presence due to ill health. she has not resided in Massillon. Friends regret his departure and note the vacancy in the capable office. His successor has not yet been chosen.

The Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad has ordered six day coaches three buffet parlor cars and three combination cars. Delivery is expected by early February. With the shops needing time to build them the through car service will not be delayed.

Mystery Solved Burglar Case Ends with 3 Year Old Confession

Officers Getz and Stacey traced a break in at the Pennsylvania freight house to Howard Forsythe, a Lancaster reform farm graduate. The boy confessed after initial denial, admitting to entering the freight office, stumbling on a truck, blowing out a lamp to prevent a fire, and fleeing as Edwards arrived. Forsythe is at home awaiting further steps. Mayor Wise expects another reform school term.

Henderson Confession Reported by Fellow Convict in Penitentiary

The Columbus State Journal relays a statement by Addis Lewis, a convict at the Ohio state penitentiary, that William Henderson confessed to aiding in the murder and burglary of John Hartong near Canton. From Wasuvidtos on November 25 General Otis reports Wheaton striking the insurgent army of about two thousand at San Jacinto while General Young pushes eastward. Aguinaldo with part of his family and two hundred men slipped between the two columns. Young is in hot pursuit after receiving rations at San Fernando. Lawton is believed en route to Bayombong along a good wagon road, with supplies sent forward. Our troops freed more than three hundred Spanish prisoners.
