A letter from Miss A M Fritz in St Louis promotes a ten 2 cent stamp sample to obtain a plated hook spoon as a household necessity. The ad claims $13 earned in two hours selling spoons and $1,640 in 87 days selling the washer, urging readers to contact Iron City Dish Washer Co at Station Pittsburgh Pa for complete instructions and testimonials. Also mentions leather goods and shoemaker supplies from A J Clements on Canal Street.
Havana dispatch reports Captain General Weyler likely returning to Pinar del Rio to resume action against Antonio Maceo’s insurgents, though some doubt he will engage. He said he was content with the campaign so far, noting enemy movements and his forces’ limited contact, while insurgents claim a Spanish defeat by avoiding battle.
Consul General Lee reports no trial has occurred for the Competitor prisoners at Mora Castle despite preliminary steps and depositions. He says civil trial rights under the US Spain treaty may apply and notes he has no knowledge of a letter from a Fredericksburg editor urging action.

In Boston on November 25 the Home Market club, a strong pro protection group, cheered Grover Cleveland as Senator Hoar addressed about 1,000 members and 1,000 more in the galleries. Hoar urged New England businessmen to uphold honest practices to regain confidence of the west and south amid stock market speculation and western railroad debt fears. Generals Alger Howard and Stewart and Corporal Tanner spoke. McKinley’s election letter was read by W. A. Stott.
A Cleveland dispatch reports on a proposed McKinley administration swap: Sherman to secretary of state and Hanna to the Senate, contingent on Bushnell appointing Hanna. Also reports a Pennsylvania Line express derailment near New Brunswick, killing engineer Joseph Meaghen and fireman H W Chichester with no passengers hurt. Then Michigan results show McKinley leading.
