Murderous Passion Ends in Self Destruction at Canal Fulton
George Eckfield, a B&O Telegraph operator from Massillon, traveled to Canal Fulton with intent to kill Mayor McCadden and Joe Walter, then himself. After a spree of threats and a confrontation, he shot himself at the Canal Fulton station, having previously pursued Mrs. Walzer in a troubling, obsessive fixation. Eckfield had eloped with Mrs. Walzer years earlier, faced arrest, and was believed to target her as part of a planned double death.

Snyder Bound Over In Hampden Jewelry Theft Case
Melville Snyder of this city faced Mayor Robertson's court on charges of stealing gold and jewels from the Hampden Watch Company. Attorney John C. Welty represented Hampden and Judge J. P. Fawcett defended Snyder. After a brief conference Snyder waived examination and was bound over to the next grand jury with a $500 bond. The jewels used by the company are valued at 750.
