Mrs Stevens Named WCTU President at Large Vote

St Paul Nov 16 The WCTU elected Mrs Stevens of Maine president on the first ballot with 317 of 358 votes. Nomination of Miss Anna A Gordon as vice president at large was made after bylaws were amended. Corresponding secretary went to Mrs Fry of Minnesota with 204 of 353 votes. Recording secretary went to Mrs Hoffman of Missouri, 292 of 351. A temple endorsement resolution failed 76 to 277.

A Surgeon Testimony On Yellow Fever In Cuba

Major Lagarde in Siboney testified before the war investigating commission that yellow fever among troops in Cuba was foreseen by the surgeon general. He noted the illness was mild and less feared than typhoid, but could not explain why more immune nurses were not provided. In the U S the mortality from yellow fever was higher among troops at home.
