Fire at Hotel Conrad origin mystery and damage details
A fire at the Hotel Conrad started in a hay mow of H V Kramer's livery barn within the hotel complex. It was discovered just before 9 pm. flames spread from hay to the hotel, with 40 tons of baled hay and 20 tons of straw involved. Damage to hotel walls and furnishings was extensive, with estimates up to 10,000 dollars, fully insured. Firefighters fought a hard battle aided by a wooden partition and a tin roof, while guests mostly saved belongings. some occupants were briefly endangered by smoke.
