The Rev. Frank M. Corl pastor of the United Brethren church in Stark County died Thursday at 1 o clock at his home on South Mill street after years of illness. He was born in Navarre in 1858 and lived in the area most of his life. Survived by his mother in Navarre and wife Ida Otis with two children. He founded the Navarre Independent in 1885 and served as Navarre postmaster. Funeral will be held at his mother’s home in Navarre on Saturday afternoon due to Mrs. Corl’s illness. He had served Alliance and Massillon during his ministry.

Reports from Philadelphia museums highlighted rising American exports, with seven months of 1896 showing substantial manufactured goods gains and a 12 million export increase over the prior year. Ohio Dairy School opens January 6, 1897, for ten weeks with $15 in fees.

Wainwright Coal Company has opened a four and one half foot coal vein near Canal Fulton on the C L and W line with a switch to be laid at once.
Crystan Springs Nov 7 John Nye of Canal Fulton was badly hurt last Monday by a heavy rock fall at the North Massillon mine injuring his back and breaking his right ankle. He is resting as well as could be expected. Also local items note a quiet election, minor social events, and community updates across nearby towns.
