A dense promotional note highlights fine dress goods silks and cold weather wraps with emphasis on value, variety and honesty in prices. It promotes a new catalog winter wraps and asserts fairest tests of self interest, urging customers to test goods and profits. Also included is a Jersey churn advertisement claiming rapid, profitable butter production.
Telegrams from Carcaco and Patras report early returns showing McKinley ahead nationally with large Republican gains. Maine Vermont New Hampshire and Massachusetts favor McKinley while Ohio Pennsylvania and Maryland tilt Republican. Tennessee North Carolina Indiana Michigan Iowa lean Republican. Bryan gains suggested in Virginia Florida and several southern states. Patras dispatch notes Texas may go McKinley by about 50,000 if current gains hold.
Major McKinley watched election returns read aloud in his Canton library as telegrams from headquarters and supporters cheered him toward a likely victory. He and Mrs McKinley received guests, while Governor McKinley and family observed, with crowds outside signaling triumph by fireworks, horns, and cannons.
Baltimore reports show McKinley leading Bryan by about 30,000 with 2 3 of Maryland tallied. Gorman's defeat mirrors last year as Baltimore adds roughly 20,000 votes to the Republican column. Five Republican congressmen look set, and Baltimore's council appears nearly all Republican.
Late returns show McKinley with about 90 000 plurality, Seventeen Republicans and two Democrats win in Congress. In Ohio districts Fifth Norton Dewitt claim, Fourth McLean, Seventeenth McDowell. New Orleans Bryan leads, Louisiana Democrats likely win several seats. Wisconsin Nebraska Colorado California also reported in Republican or Bryan outcomes.
The Massillon vote gives Major McKinley a city plurality of 128 and a county margin of 122. McKinley carried Massillon and Perry township with record turnout and jubilee celebrations. In the city 1804 for McKinley to 1682 for Bryan. statewide shifts reflect Populist votes, with Coxey tallying 543 and Bucknell 272 in earlier counts.
In 1900 Coxey argues the campaign hinges on demonetizing both gold and silver and replacing with non interest bearing paper money. He cites past reforms and urges public action while a separate ad touts the Iron City Dish Washer Co. offering business opportunity and earnings claims.
