A 2018 crash tally identifies the most perilous intersections in Massillon Canton area. The report lists 10 locations including Great Lakes Boulevard with 24 crashes and 2 serious injuries, Dressler Road with 38 crashes, and I-77 near Belden Village Street with 37 crashes, citing leading causes such as following too closely and raw red lights.
Stark County officials, through the SCATS study of 2016 to 2018 crashes, rank the top 10 hazardous intersections led by State Route 21 and Lake Avenue in Massillon at No 1 and Everhard Road at No 2. Tailgating, red light running, and failure to yield are major crash factors with no 2018 fatalities among the top sites.
Preston Hodges wore a smirk as Massillon defeated McKinley 24 to 14 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The win, part of the 130th meeting, keeps Massillon undefeated in the storied rivalry as the players head toward the end of their high school careers.
