Lori Lightfoot, 56, became Chicago's first openly gay black woman mayor, with wife Amy Eshleman and daughter Vivian by her side. She succeeds Rahm Emanuel as all three top city executive posts are held by women, as City Clerk Anna Valencia and Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin also took office. A public ceremony drew 10,000+ attendees with performances by local arts groups and Miguel Cervantes singing the national anthem. The city council also took oaths with many new aldermen.
