A violent tornado swept along the Republican river in south central Nebraska on May 18, destroying farms groves and cattle ranches. It lifted water from the river bed creating a spray flood and ripped six farm houses and outbuildings. No fatalities were reported in the immediate area. The twister then veered eastward.
