Republican Convention Set for Alliance Next Tuesday
The eighteenth district Republican convention will convene at the Alliance opera house Tuesday at 10 30 AM with Mc Nab as chairman and Abram W Agler as secretary. Delegates from Stark county meet in Alliance for county organization and elect committee members. Stark has 132 delegates and alternates. A Republican circuit judge convention will be held in Mansfield on June 18 with Stark county sending 23 delegates. Expected nominees include Judge Smyser of Wooster and Judge T T McCarty of Canton.

Odd Fellows Celebrate 83rd Anniversary in Warwick Block
The Odd Fellows’ 83rd founding anniversary drew about 300 attendees from Sippo and Massillon lodges and the Rebekahs. Ex Mayor Tobias Schott spoke on brotherhood, followed by German chorus music and a surprise program. A postponed banquet was held, meals were served for visiting guests, and dancing followed the supper.

Mrs. Kirkland Dies After Prolonged Illness In Massillon
Mrs. Helen B. Kirkland wife of Dr. William H. Kirkland died at 179 North Street Thursday evening after a year of heart and rheumatic illness marked by gastritis and influenza related complications. Born in Philadelphia in 1845 she moved to Massillon in 1866. Funeral likely Sunday afternoon attended by daughter Helen and sisters Misses Josephine and Fanny Neall. Louis Kister of Canton, aged 79 and brother of Frank Kister in Massillon, died Friday morning at his Canton home. funeral plans pending.

Canton May 2 Ernest Watkins a fireman for the W and L E railroad died at Aultman hospital four hours after a wreck near Navarre. He had both legs amputated and received palliative care. Watkins from Newburg married with no children boarded freight No 92 from Cleveland to Zanesville. The engine collided with an extra freight caboose derailing several cars. track was blocked about two and a half hours. Cause under railroad investigation.
