Canton firm Central Allied Enterprises submitted the lowest bid for Massillon’s Lincoln Way streetscape project at about 2.121 million dollars, far under the city’s estimated overall price tag, potentially winning contractor status.
The Independent previews a four part Massillon streetscape series with May 11 overview May 13 logistics May 14 disruptions and May 15 tourism. City engineers opened bids from four firms including S E T Inc Liberta Construction and Wenger Excavating with final award pending contract rules. The $2.47 million project starts early June and lasts about 90 days. The mayor is involved and bids show the awarded firm may not be the lowest bidder.
Four area construction firms filed bids for downtown Massillon Lincoln Way streetscape work. Central Allied Enterprises bids $2,120,507.90 followed by S.E.T. Inc. at $2,137,081.30 Liberta Construction at $2,212,174.03 and Wenger Excavating at $2,792,019.76, per the City of Massillon.
About a dozen expectant mothers joined Lifecare Family Health and Dental Center for a free Lifecare Baby Shower at the Massillon Recreation Center. Roughly 25 people attended including a few fathers and children as organizers aimed to educate and encourage new mothers and provide a pleasant event.

The move follows years of Stark County interest and includes upcoming openings in Stow Mentor and Brimfield Township.
A Canal Fulton resident incarcerated for a drug offense earned a college degree at Ashland University. He studied while serving time and graduates Saturday, emerging as a changed man.
The Ohio House proposes a budget diverging from GOP norms by hiking taxes on wealthy business owners while eliminating income taxes for the lowest earners. It would double funding for county child protective services, add 125 million for K-12 education, 35 million for indigent defense, and expand needs based scholarships for higher education.
