The obituary notes Harmon Schriver died at 6 am Friday at his Massillon home after a brief illness. Born in Hanover in 1813 he immigrated to America at 20, built wealth through railroad work and a 171 acre Jackson township farm, and left six children in Massillon. He was a respected businessman and longtime St Pauls Lutheran member.

Fire destroys Yerkes Grocery with $70000 loss
Early today a blaze swept the Yerkes mammoth grocery in St Paul causing about 70000 dollars in damage. A dozen tenants lived on upper floors and several are feared dead. Meanwhile the battleship Iowa was christened in Philadelphia by Governor Drake’s daughter at Cramp's Shipyard as the most powerful vessel in the navy.
