A new Christian church hosted a well attended concert unveiling the interior. The event drew a large crowd with notable performances by Miss Lynch Miss Anna Edgar and Miss May White along with the popular Mandolin club. Mrs Walters and Harriet Robison also impressed audiences with music and readings.
The board of health met in the mayor’s office and adopted a resolution to stop permitting hogs inside the city. The new rule bans keeping pigs within city limits this year, making any resident who raises pigs a misdemeanor subject to municipal punishment.
Dr Willer defends Massillon Board of Health annual report for year ending February 28 1891 noting unusually low death rate and mild scarlet fever yet ongoing cases. Measles subsided in 1890. typhoid cases eleven amid water quality concerns. diphtheria rare. calls for better record keeping and continued sanitary vigilance.
The report notes incomplete birth records for the year, estimates a birth rate of 23.2 per thousand with the population at 10 000, and tabulates ages at death by 5 year groups from one to 109, listing causes such as scarlet fever influenza diphtheria and paralysis, with data continued on page two.
Morgan Landup of Louisville, recently divorced from Laura, fired through the window of Laura's brother J Tombaugh's residence, striking Laura in the shoulder. Tombaugh stopped a second shot. Landup was arrested but released on affidavit defect and will be re-arrested tonight.
