The Pennsylvania Company moves to improve Massillon freight handling with new yards near the Massillon and Cleveland junction and a branch freight house for carload consignments. Incoming and small lots stay at the present yards. Brice seeks control of Cleveland Lorain and Wheeling stock, with heirs offered 5 percent after Selah Chamberlain’s death.
A Massillon mine operator questioned In DEPENDENT on Otis Young's coal consolidation scheme. He warned against trusting Young's optimism due to sharp rivalry among firms and noted consolidation as essential to gain railroad cooperation. He cited the Hysell bill as a relief, though anti rail legislation remains unlikely at the passage point.
Larry Steele clashed with Depot Officer Harry Markle on a freight train in a Canton bound incident. Steele, a disruptive loafer, resisted after being ordered off and torn clothes and hat during the struggle before guards intervened. Markle could not draw his club and Steele was restrained, likely facing disciplinary action tonight.
Final counts from Richville precinct show trustee results: Geo Schaffert 276, Jacob Mauger 136, Julius Wittman 539. Assessor votes go to Henry Moke 28, B F Stump 7, I P Swihart 2y. Constable ballots favor Frank Shepley 64 and John Shearer 51.
The new Christian church auditorium debuts Thursday evening with a diverse program including quartets, soprano solos, mandolin club selections, and piano pieces. Israel Bixler from Stark county says the Farmers' Alliance has 32 lodges with 150 to 180 members each and plans two more this week. He covers Ohio, notes no current political activity, and argues if legislative gains fail, people may take politics into their own hands.

Miss Katie Detweiler, 24, of Louisville, hanged herself in a barn near her home after a visit with her uncle J. M. Campbell. Coroner Openheimer investigated. a letter cited a mistake costing her mother her life. Friends say grip and possible insanity from the illness contributed to the act.
Special Dispatch reports the Democratic city convention names Gustav Taffel for mayor J R Sayler for supreme judge and J D Ermston for police judge. Separately in Nashville Anderson Greer & Co., a major dry goods house, has failed for 150000 with assets 200000.
