New York March 6. A decree of absolute divorce awarded Alva E. Vanderbilt against William K. Vanderbilt and custody of their children to Mrs. Vanderbilt, with education in the United States. The case began January 8, hearings continued through February, and alimony issues were settled as Vanderbilt allegedly deeded property to satisfy alimony claims. The defendant faced charges linked to Nellie Neustretter, a leading Paris demi monde figure.
Proceedings reveal a complex split of Alva Vanderbilt and William K. Vanderbilt amid a public yachting scandal. The decree allows Alva Vanderbilt to marry again while William K. Vanderbilt is barred from remarriage during her lifetime. New York March 6 The American Church Missionary Society reports a books crisis with expenditures estimated between 25000 and 30000 dollars yearly. Secretary Rev William A Newbold of Montclair New Jersey and treasurer Henry A Oakley of New York City have been removed amid irregularities spanning five to six years. Bishop Peterkin says the situation requires new handling of funds.
