Youngstown Vindicator to shut after 150 years
The Youngstown Vindicator will cease publishing in mid August after 150 years. Publisher Betty J H Brown Jagnow and staff plan to publish a letter explaining the decision. U S Rep Tim Ryan called the move heartbreaking and urged support for local papers. The decision does not affect WFMJ, the linked television station. The paper first published June 25 1869 and is Mahoning County’s only daily.

Water Restored After North Canton Pipe Break
Water service was restored to several businesses on North Cantons western border after a major water main break near Whipple Avenue NW and Wise Avenue NW. The event drained about 2 million gallons in two hours and raised Nimishillen Creek by a foot, prompting engineers to dam the creek and divert water to weld pipe fittings. Mayor David Held said crews finished faster than expected.
