Milan E Chevan Jr 65 died June 24 2019 after a long pancreatic cancer battle. A Massillon native he worked in printing and owned Metzger Photo Supply and Proforma Cross Media Marketing before retiring in 2018. He served on Massillon City Council and enjoyed outdoors. Bonnie L McGraner 75 died June 27 2019. She loved the outdoors bingo shopping and grandchildren, survived by children Simone Perez Mitch McGraner and others. A funeral service for Chevan is July 1 and McGraner service June 29 both at Paquelet Funeral Home Massillon with arrangements by Paquelet.

Firefighters battle blaze at Shady Hollow Country Club
A maintenance barn at Shady Hollow Country Club on 4845 Wales Ave NW caught fire Thursday afternoon and was extinguished before 4 PM. Jackson Township firefighters, with Massillon and Plain Township assistance, blocked part of Wales Avenue for nearly an hour. no life threatening injuries were reported.

Parents failed man hurt in Arbys fight
At 10:45 p.m. Tuesday police and Massillon Fire Department medics responded to an Arbys near Lincoln Way East after a couple's fight at a nearby home. Zachary E. Woods, 24, and a 27-year-old housemate fought, Woods suffered a major arm laceration while intervening, and a relative who tried to break up the brawl was treated for injuries. The couple were taken into custody.

The city will replace the Jacob S. Coxey Memorial Bridge over Route 21 near Lincoln Way W as early as next week weather permitting. The project, funded by the city, insurer, and Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath, costs 167000 dollars and will close Route 21 segment for up to 12 hours during work.

Crime Report: Local Arrests Include Identity Fraud and Harassment
The Independent lists several arrests: Bonniejean Ford, 27, of 602 Dueber Ave SW, on identity fraud and obstructing official business with warrants for theft and other charges. A 41-year-old Georgia Street NW woman was jailed on endangering children after her missing 22 month old was found nearby.
